To enable students to demonstrate skills and knowledge as they adopt the role of practitioner in a birth to three setting.
Role and expectations of staff in infant and toddler care; policies, legal and ethical considerations; principles and processes of care and curriculum development; health, safety and nutrition issues: programming for infants and toddlers; descriptive observation techniques; responding sensitively to infants and toddlers; setting appropriate limits; monitoring children’s development; communicating with parents, staff and children; professional self development and reflective practice, developing and maintaining a professional experience portfolio.
