Course aim

To introduce students to the major theories and concepts in cognitive psychology and to provide an understanding of their interdependence and relationship to human behaviour and experience.

Course content

History of cognitive psychology, theoretical and research approaches to studying cognitive psychology; applications of cognitive psychology; sensation and perception; attention and skilled performance; short-term memory and learning; long-term memory and storage/retrieval; disorders of cognition; basic neuropsychology and executive functioning; language; reasoning and decision making; social cognition.
