Course aim
To develop students' capacity to critically evaluate theories of children's social and emotional development.
Course content
Students will develop a broad knowledge of children's social and emotional development including the development of temperament, attachment, self-concept, gender identity, moral development, peer and family relations and resilience, within the cultural context. Students will apply observation techniques to analyse young children’s social and emotional development and examine pedagogical approaches to support their social and emotional development.
