Course aim

To introduce core concepts and ways of thinking in the field of International Relations, with a focus on peace, war and international politics.

Course content

This course provides an introduction to understanding international politics through examining Australian identity and security in the Asian century and exploring critical perspectives on global turmoil. The course also examines the influence of modern slavery, terrorism, nationalism, ethnicity, religion and gender on global politics. Alternatives to conflict such as UN resolutions, peaceful conflict transformation, negotiations and diplomacy are explored.
