Course aim

To develop skills and knowledge in the planning, design, implementation and review of a range of assessment strategies for adult learners in a variety of contexts.

Course content

Definitions of key terms related to assessment; underpinning principles of sound assessment; policy and curriculum frameworks shaping the assessment process in adult and vocational education (including Training Packages); contexts for assessment and their influence on the assessment process; forms of assessment (including recognition of prior learning) developing assessment frameworks; gathering evidence; making decisions about learner progress; providing feedback to learners; the interplay between learning and assessment; recording and reviewing assessment practices .
