International Risk

Course aim

Building on previous knowledge in political science, this course aims to consolidate students specific knowledge on international risk.

Course content

This course introduces students to the concept of international risk. Risk is a critical problem for international investors who seek to develop large projects with high sunk costs in foreign jurisdictions. The course also looks at various levels of risk, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. The course covers a range of issues including the role of multinational enterprises in development, political risk insurance and other mitigation strategies, as well as reputation risk. Students undertake a group assignment which focuses on undertaking a risk assessment report.
