Course aim

To understand and utilise a conceptual framework to examine the role of festivals and events in contemporary society.

Course content

Understanding the nature and trends of celebrations through history and their continuities into contemporary life; understanding the complexity in the type of festivals and events; the role of media in relation to festivals and events; the relationship between festivals and events in social structure; theories of festival and event management; exploring creativity in festival and event design.
