Materials Science

Year

Type

Major, Extended Major

Description

This stream provides studies in materials science, which represents the overlap of physics, biochemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry. Materials can range from glasses to polymers, from superconductors to non-crystals, from liquids to solids. Properties, production and uses of materials with unique magnetic, electrical, optical and physical properties are covered. Lectures and tutorials are supported by computational science (computer modelling) and hands-on use of instrumentation including computer control, data collection and analysis.
