Description

Art/Design Studies introduces the student to the fundamentals of art and design including ways of seeing, interpretation and conceptual development in both two and three dimensions. These principles are more fully explored in a wide range of studio courses in Levels 2 and 3. Level 1 provides a structured introductory program while Levels 2 and 3 offer a wide choice of courses supplemented by a core visual arts theory course.

Notes

  1. Students must complete either VSAR 1105 3D Contemporary Art OR VSAR 1104 2D Contemporary Art and either VSAR 1100 Reading Visual Culture 1 or VSAR 2100 Reading Visual Culture 2. The remaining four courses for the sub-major are available from electives in the Bachelor of Contemporary Art (DBCX).
  2. Students wishing to undertake the Master of Teaching after completion should include VSAR 1104 2D Contemporary Art and VSAR 1100 Reading Visual Culture 1 or VSAR 2100 Reading Visual Culture 2, one painting or drawing course and a Contemporary Art elective as part of their second learning area.
