The admission criteria have been grouped to assist you to easily find the information most relevant to your circumstances. However, you may fit into more than one and the university will consider applicants against each of the relevant criteria.
To be eligible for selection, applicants are required to have:
Completed the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE); and
completed 200 credits of subjects;
achieved a grade of C* or better in the Personal Learning Plan, 20 credits of literacy, 10 credits of numeracy and the Research Project at Stage 2;
achieved a grade C- or better in an additional 60 credits at Stage 2;
obtained a competitive ATAR.
* For Stage 2 subjects a grade of C- or better is required
Alternatively, the minimum educational requirements may be met by those who have fulfilled prerequisite requirements :
Completed the equivalent secondary education qualifications as required for university entry under SACE and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements; OR
Completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements; OR
Completed or partly completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements; OR
Completed at least four Open Universities Australia (OUA) courses at the appropriate level and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements; OR
Completed an award from TAFE or from another registered training organisation at AQF Certificate IV or above and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements; OR
Qualified for Special Entry and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements; OR
Completed University Foundation Studies program, Applied Science and Engineering stream; OR
Completed the Associate Degree in Engineering program at the University of South Australia.

In addition, international students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the University of South Australia. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

The program aims to produce graduates who are responsible professionals and aspiring leaders, ready to apply their technical, communication, research and team skills to meet industry needs; designing and producing appropriate, effective solutions to complex local and global challenges.
Content & Structure
The program has a foundational first year that includes an introduction to mechanical, civil and electrical engineering to give a broad engineering knowledge so that graduates have an extensive understanding of basic fundamentals and an appreciation of the diversity of engineering. Courses in second and third years are arranged to give the program a practice based emphasis that provides engineering knowledge in the areas of mechanics and component design; fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and sustainable design; materials and design for manufacturing; and manufacturing systems and engineering maintenance. The fourth year offers the opportunity for specialisation to equip graduates for future leadership roles in the areas of mechanical design, advanced manufacturing, applied mechatronics, sustainable systems and systems engineering with particular emphasis on the manufacturing, defence, mining, mechanical design, automotive, and building and mechanical services industries. These specialisations each have a major individual project which is industry based.
Final year may be taken as an honours year for students with outstanding academic results.
Students who graduate from this degree will be able to apply for entry to the Master of Engineering (Systems Engineering) or the Master of Engineering (Systems Integration) (LMST) and receive credit for some courses completed in the undergraduate degree. Hence it is possible to gain a bachelor and master degree in five years of full time study.
1. This Elective is a course freely chosen by students from any school or program within the University of South Australia.
2. It is a requirement of Engineers Australia that students complete a minimum period of 12 weeks of industrial experience in a relevant industry prior to graduation. Assessment in the course Industrial Experience will remain incomplete until the student submits a written report and receives a pass.
3. Students who have completed EEET 3033 - Professional Engineering Practice E will be eligible to enrol in the Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice as an alternative to Industrial Experience (MENG 3007)
