This program is designed specifically to provide a degree pathway for students who hold a qualification that can attract advanced standing.
To be eligible for selection, applicants are required to have completed a relevant qualification (normally a Hong Kong Associate Degree) assessed as equivalent to an AQF Level 6 or higher, that can normally attract up to of 54 units of advanced standing.

In addition, international students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the University of South Australia. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

The program provides graduates with a practical and theoretical knowledge of all aspects of food science to be ready to make an immediate impact in the food industry, including food safety and the development of innovative and healthy foods; as well as undertake research into the areas of food and nutrition.
Content & Structure
The Hong Kong offering of the Bachelor of Nutrition and Food Sciences will only have the Food Science stream available. Graduates of the Bachelor of Nutrition and Food Sciences degree will have a solid basis in food sciences and will build on foundational knowledge biochemistry, physiology and nutrition. Graduates will have knowledge and skills in food quality and regulation, product development and food analysis, and molecular food microbiology. The program requires completion of 108 units of study. Students entering with associate degree qualifications will normally receive up to 54 units of credit and, to qualify for the award, must complete 54 units of the program.
