Entry requirements
Applicants are required to have:
- A completed four-year Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related discipline from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent
- Applicants who hold a degree in Mechanical, Mining or Environmental Engineering may also be eligible and will be assessed on a case by case basis.English language entry requirements
In addition, international students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the University of South Australia. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. Aim
The Graduate Certificate in Engineering (Civil) aims to provide graduates and current practioners with the required level of knowledge and skills in Civil Engineering to enable them to undertake further study at Master's level.
Content & Structure
The program requires completion of 9 units of core courses and 9 units of elective courses in Civil Engineering. On completion of these courses students should be able to:
- Apply and synthesise civil engineering theories in solving practical cases
- Adapt civil engineering data analysis and modelling methods to solve a range of practical problems in civil engineering
- Develop skills required for critical review of current knowledge and understanding of research methodologies
- Develop advanced skills to communicate with civil engineering and related professionals
