Applicants are required to have:

- A completed four-year Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related discipline from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent
- Applicants who hold a degree in Mechanical, Mining or Environmental Engineering may also be eligible and will be assessed on a case by case basis.

Aim

The Graduate Certificate in Engineering (Civil) aims to provide graduates and current practioners with the required level of knowledge and skills in Civil Engineering to enable them to undertake further study at Master's level.

Content & Structure

The program requires completion of 9 units of core courses and 9 units of elective courses in Civil Engineering. On completion of these courses students should be able to:

Apply and synthesise civil engineering theories in solving practical cases
Adapt civil engineering data analysis and modelling methods to solve a range of practical problems in civil engineering
Develop skills required for critical review of current knowledge and understanding of research methodologies
Develop advanced skills to communicate with civil engineering and related professionals

Rules

1. This schedule has been developed assuming part-time study over two study periods. Full-time students who wish to complete the program in a single study period must negotiate a revised study plan with the Program Director

2. No credit is available in this program. Where students have previously completed a similar course in another program, they may be granted permission to substitute an alternative course with the agreement of the Program Director.
