Aim

The double degree Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement and Health Studies), Bachelor of Education (Middle and Secondary) aims to provide a foundation of interdisciplinary studies in human movement and health that includes a major focus in health and physical education. This is combined with specific studies in education, curriculum and reflective practice. The intent of the double degree program is to prepare Health and Physical educators who are skilled, committed and flexible professionals with the knowledge and pedagogical capacities to promote effective and inclusive learning in a variety of education settings including middle and secondary schools and broader community contexts.

Content & Structure

The program is equivalent to four years of full-time study, that is 144 units. The program includes courses in Human Movement and Health Studies, Health and Physical Education, core education courses, reflective practice courses and learning area courses.

The program offers flexibility in its structure to allow for students to complete the double degree in one learning area (Health and Physical Education) or in two learning areas (Health and Physical Education, and Science).
