Aim
To provide students with: the skills and understandings which will enable them to work effectively as professionals in a range of Indigenous contexts; and appropriate theoretical frameworks within which they are able to apply understandings and critical analysis gained from studying courses that provide Aboriginal world views.
Content & Structure
The Master of Aboriginal Studies consists of 54 units completed over three distinct stages:
Stage 1 comprising a core of 18 units which consists of 4 x 4.5 unit courses (the equivalent of the Graduate Certificate in Aboriginal Studies); and
Stage 2 which consists of a further 18 units,including a 9 unit Aboriginal research methodologies course and two 4.5 unit courses (the equivalent of the Graduate Diploma in Aboriginal Studies); and
Stage 3 which involves negotiating and completing a research project within an Aboriginal context on a topic deemed to be important to Aboriginal people, and the completion of a minor thesis (18,000 words).
