Entry requirements

Applicants are required to have:
- A completed Bachelors degree from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent*; or
- A completed Graduate Diploma from a recognised higher education institution;
*Normally applicants who have completed a Bachelors degree with a Grade Point Average of 4 or better will be recognised for entry.
A GPA of 4 refers to UniSA's Grading scale which has a range of 1-7, other equivalent Australia and International grading scales will be considered.
English language entry requirements
In addition, international students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the University of South Australia. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

Aim

This program is designed to provide professional postgraduate education in the application of knowledge for those seeking a career in accounting and finance, and for others seeking to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

Content & Structure

The program consists of 72 units of study. Courses cover the curriculum requirements of the accrediting bodies plus a significant study in finance.

Rules

1. Students who have taken for another award, a course which is substantially equivalent to a course from the program schedule, may be granted up to 18 units (4 courses) of credit or may substitute a course of equal standing and unit value, with the approval of the Program Director.

Notes

1. These courses are offered in both study periods 2 and 5 each year.

2. Students who wish to satisfy the educational requirements for admission to the professional program of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (to qualify as a chartered accountant) must take all courses as specified above.

3. Students who wish to satisfy the educational requirements for admission to CPA Australia and to undertake professional studies with that organisation (to qualify as a CPA) may choose to replace one or both of these courses with electives.

4. Finance electives may be chosen from those listed in the electives pool. All courses may not be offered every year.

5. General elective courses are normally chosen from those offered by the Schools in the Division of Business.
