Entry requirements

To be eligible for selection, applicants are required to have:

Completed the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE); and
- completed 200 credits of subjects;
- achieved a grade of C* or better in the Personal Learning Plan, 20 credits of literacy, 10 credits of numeracy and the Research Project at Stage 2;
- achieved a grade C- or better in an additional 60 credits at Stage 2;
- obtained a competitive ATAR.
* For Stage 2 subjects a grade of C- or better is required
Alternatively, the minimum educational requirements may be met by those who have one of the following qualifications:
- Completed the equivalent secondary education qualifications as required for university entry under SACE; or
- Completed or partly completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution*; or
- Completed at least four Open Universities Australia (OUA) courses at the appropriate level*; or
- Completed a recognised diploma or advanced diploma from TAFE; or
- Completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma; or
- Completed the University Foundation Studies Program with a competitive GPA; or
- Qualified for Special Entry.
* Normally applicants with a grade point average of 4** or better will be recognised for entry.
** A GPA of 4 refers to the UniSA grading scale which has a range of 1 - 7, other equivalent Australian and international grading scales will be considered.

Aim

To provide graduates with the education and skills necessary to be accountants in public practice, commerce and industry, and the public sector.

Content & Structure

The program comprises an eight course division core (see Note 1), an eight course accounting major, and nine elective courses (which includes one Division Core course). The program requires the completion of 24 courses totalling 108 units, as listed in the program schedule. Since entry is only granted to applicants who can be granted a minimum of 6 courses credit, the completion of the program will require the study of 18 courses or less.

For the Bachelor of Accountancy, they are: ACCT 1005 Accounting Decisions and Accountability; INFS 1011 Business Information Systems; COML 1008 Foundations of Business Law; COMM 1054 Managing Communications in Business; MATH 1053 Quantitative Methods for Business; MARK 1010 Marketing Principles: Trading and Exchange; ECON 1006 Microeconomics; and BUSS 1054 Management Principles.
