Psychology Curriculum 1

Course aim

To introduce, and develop understanding of the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) Psychology curriculum.

Course content

This course focusses on teaching the subject of Psychology at senior secondary level, and in particular the biopsychosocial model that underpins the subject. Students will consider the way that science inquiry skills, science as human endeavour, and science understanding are integrated into the SACE Psychology curriculum framework. Course materials will guide development of lesson plans for use in diverse classrooms and school contexts. Pedagogical approaches that build on the knowledge of students, scaffold collaborative learning and develop academic literacies will be explored. The purpose and form of assessment tasks for learning in Psychology will be analysed, and students will practice making connections between assessment tasks and learning activities.
