To develop health professionals' understanding of foundational concepts and theories of education and approaches to learning and assessment.
Education as a concept: purpose, theories of learning, education frameworks; learning taxonomies, learning approaches, learning environments, enablers and barriers to learning; diversity and inclusive practice as learning considerations: multiple intelligences, teaching styles, teaching and delivery strategies, planning and preparation, learning environment and professional responsibilities; feedback and assessment of learning in the health environment: regulatory frameworks, individual, team, self-assessment and peer assessment, assessment strategies, recognising and responding to levels of achievement; principles of alignment, student-centred approaches. Communication strategies, appropriateness of message to audience and ethical considerations.
