Course aim

To develop a balanced organisational and technical perspective of the principal elements of cybersecurity, and become proficient in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the governance aspects of security in organisations within the defence, space and related industries.

Course content

In this course, students will gain advanced skills and knowledge in the following:

  • Core security principles including confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA).
  • The contemporary cybersecurity threat landscape.
  • End-to-end security implementation for a corporate network.
  • Principles of symmetric and asymmetric cryptography.
  • Roles and responsibilities of a cybersecurity professional.
  • Approaches and techniques for the identification and protection of organisational IT assets.
  • Methods for detecting, responding to, and recovering from cybersecurity attacks.
  • Utilising a cybersecurity framework to develop appropriate policies and procedures.
