To introduce students to the fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge in product design, and to develop student skills in the application of this knowledge for generating design outcomes, establishing the relationship between process, principles and practice.
This course provides an introduction to the principles of design, exploring aspects of research, idea generation, concept development, user experience, human-centred design and communication of product design outcomes. Students will be introduced to design process skills with the introduction of methods for iterative and creative problem solving for given scenarios. In addition, students will develop skills in the application of approaches to visual thinking to generate design outcomes for new products.
