Course aim

The aim of this course is to provide students with a historical and critical understanding of cultural and creative policy in Australia.

Course content

This course provides students with a historical and critical understanding of cultural and creative policy in Australia, different models of funding and government intervention through a series of national and global case studies. Students will learn how to critically evaluate cultural policy in terms of who advocates for such changes, the nature of such changes and their policy outcomes. Students will develop an awareness of and ability to question what constitutes an 'Australian Story', who gets to tell ‘Australian Stories’ and what is the policy ecosystem surrounding such stories.
