Course aim

This course aims to provide registered nurses with the knowledge, skills, and experiences to develop advanced theoretical and practical knowledge to be able to provide evidence informed nephrology nursing care.

Course content

Nephrology Nursing provides a broad approach to assist registered nurses working in nephrology nursing to extend their knowledge that will inform the care and management of people with kidney disease. This course addresses the pathogenesis of kidney disease and the nursing assessment and the management of aboriginal and non-aboriginal peoples with acute, chronic and end stage renal disease. It includes physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacy and nutrition, biochemical pathology and complications arising in the management of kidney disease.
