To develop students understanding of Aboriginal perspectives within the phenomena of globalisation to operate effectively in a diverse world.
This course will introduce students to the phenomena of globalisation and its impacts on Aboriginal Peoples. Attention will be given to both economic and cultural globalisation using national and international examples to explore historical movements and current trends. It will privilege Aboriginal ways of being and knowing in the storying of maintaining culture and Identity within an increasingly globalised world. Decolonisation will be used as a foundation to identify Aboriginal priorities and sociological solutions with a focus on culture, language, activism, human rights, and the environment.
