Course aim

To provide an understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of human growth and motor development across the lifespan with a focus on exercise, health and sport.

Course content

Models of lifelong human development; developmentalist terminology; transactional models of motor development; physical, cognitive and psychosocial changes across 5 key life stages (conception to 5 years; childhood; adolescence; early and middle adulthood; late life); the influence of social determinants of health on growth and development; the influence of physical activity and exercise on lifespan, growth development and ageing.
