Human Services: Work and Organisational Psychology

Course aim

To develop students' advanced knowledge of and ability to apply psychological principles to a range of fundamental work and organisational human services workplace issues and to critically analyse the role and impact of the human services practitioner in the work environment.

Course content

In this course students will develop an advanced understanding of work and organisational psychology, including its history, psychological health at work, organisational culture and climate, emotional regulation at work, and workplace engagement focusing on human services. Students will critically consider concepts of leadership and supervision, stress theories, the psychology of unemployment, and counterproductive workplace behaviours.
