To enable students to demonstrate knowledge, skills and attitudes consistent with professional standards in the provision of person-centred nursing care to older people.
Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Registered Nurse Standards for Practice; National Safety and Quality Health Standards, inclusive of the Medication Safety Standard and the Aged Care Quality Standards; Nursing Process (clinical assessment, care planning and coordination, clinical intervention and management, evaluation); cultural safety; Aboriginal Health; evidence-based practice; professional nursing practice; professional and interprofessional communication, teamwork, documentation; collaborative approaches to care, advocacy, scope of practice, NMBA code of ethics, code of conduct for nurses, differing role expectations, education for self and others; safe and quality use of medications; mental health care for older people (healthy ageing, managing challenging behaviours), health informatics including electronic health records; infection control.
