Course aim

For Preservice teachers to examine junior primary aged children’s construction of mathematical and science understanding, processes and attitudes and how to implement the inquiry approach to science and mathematics teaching based on the Australian curriculum.

Course content

Preservice teachers will examine assessment strategies in mathematics and science with an emphasis on prior knowledge, formative assessment and timely and constructive feedback; and plan learning experiences for individuals, small groups and whole classes and evaluate a variety of structured and informal materials, print and digital resources.
