Course aim

This course aims to build beginner-level proficiencies in spoken and written Modern Standard Arabic and to stimulate intercultural reflection. It will also develop the learners’ capacities for successful interactions with Arabic-speakers in Australia or overseas.

Course content

Students will learn to read and write the Arabic alphabet. In addition, students will learn basic conversational skills via exposure to introductory level themes, vocabulary, and grammatical concepts, such as greeting others, introducing themselves, and engaging in small talk. Students will also explore the richness and diversity of the Arabic language and Arab peoples, and engage with aspects of Arab culture.
