Course aim

To build a set of evidence-based strategies to assist with personal development and to assist students with developing a professional identity as a worker in a counselling or psychology related field.

Course content

In this course students will use psychological concepts and theories (e.g., resilience, stress, self and time management, academic competencies, positive psychology and communication) to build a set of strategies to assist with their personal and professional development. Students will explain how these strategies apply to their personal and professional lives by completing a reflective journal. Students will understand the interpersonal and employability skills that they already possess and will identify skills that require developing. Students will complete a career portfolio where they will demonstrate how they can utilise strengths and opportunities to overcome developmental needs and barriers to achieve their career goals.
