Course aim

The aim of this course is to provide fundamental knowledge of water and wastewater treatment technologies and processes. This includes relevant water & colloid chemistry; water quality parameters and wastewater quality characteristics; conventional and advanced water treatment processes for safe drinking water supply; primary, secondary & tertiary wastewater treatment processes for organic carbon and nutrients removal; sludge treatment and disposal; and wastewater recycling and reuse. On completion of this course, students are expected to have solid knowledge and understanding of all these processes applied in water and wastewater industry. Also, students will be able to perform a preliminary process design of a water or wastewater treatment plant.

  • Natural and man-made pollutants that affect water quality
