Course aim

To provide students with specialised knowledge of the theory, assessment and management techniques for neuromusculoskeletal community physiotherapy practice across the lifespan.

Course content

Students will learn the clinical knowledge and skills required for community physiotherapy practice (musculoskeletal) across the lifespan. Pathology of common musculoskeletal conditions across the lifespan. Musculoskeletal and paediatric assessment principles and skills e.g. taking a subjective examination, palpation, manual muscle testing, measuring range of motion, paediatric impairments, motor skill assessment. Management techniques for selected musculoskeletal conditions across the lifespan e.g. massage, electrophysical agents, aquatic physiotherapy, and exercise therapy. Management techniques for children in the community setting (e.g. working with children and families).
