Course aim

To engage students with i) contemporary Catholic theological anthropology in the context of ‘Creation’ and current threats to the global community of life; ii) the theology and anthropology which underpin Pope Francis’ Laudato si and iii) Ecological education in Catholic school settings.

Course content

Students will develop their knowledge and understanding of ‘the ecological and cosmic promise’ of Christian theology. The course will explore contemporary Christian anthropology in the context of the global community of life, guided by Pope Francis’ 2015 encyclical Laudato si. The ‘cosmic Christ’ and the Trinity as ‘communion’ will also be a focus. Implications for ecological education, global justice education and ecological conversion will be explored.
