Course aim

This course aims to extend preservice teachers’ abilities to plan, teach and assess STEM-related Design and Technologies learning experiences and facilitate learners’ engagement with the wider community, including industry within secondary education.

Course content

This course builds on the knowledge, skills, and values that preservice teachers have encountered and developed throughout the Design and Technologies or Food and Textiles majors' courses. Preservice teachers will investigate the role that external professionals and community representatives play in broadening professional knowledge and practice. Preservice teachers will work collaboratively within professional environments to liaise, negotiate, and collaborate with industry stakeholders to identify and meet a diverse range of STEM and design-based needs. Preservice teachers will also refine and apply their planning and teaching skills to collaboratively produce sequenced learning and assessment plans that reflect an understanding of how diverse students develop the attitude, knowledge and skills of the entrepreneur in Enterprise Education.
