To facilitate the writing of a final thesis cognisant of the main research methods as well as theoretical debates reflecting specialised knowledge in the student's broader discipline area.
In consultation with an academic supervisor, students will undertake substantial research on an approved subject in their area of specialization, leading to a major project or thesis. The focus of this course concentrates on the formulation of a research question, placement of the project within the scholarly field and identification of the suitable research method corresponding to the discipline area. Students are encouraged to consider the project as contributing to a portfolio of professional and scholarly development. Assessment in this course, together with work completed in Research Thesis 2, will contribute to the presentation of an 18,000 word thesis.
