Advance knowledge of cardiac diseases, including congenital heart disease and the downstream effect of these diseases.
Congenital heart disease (including imaging in the pre and post-surgical patient), pericardial diseases (including pericarditis, tamponade and constriction), coronary artery disease (including coronary artery distribution, myocardial infarction and the complications of myocardial infarction), cardiac masses (including thrombus, tumours and vegetations), and cardiac involvement in systemic diseases including their effect on haemodynamics and cardiac function.

To undertake this course, students must be in a Cardiac Sonography training position. Placement details are to be evidenced and confirmed prior to census date. Students in the Cardiac Sonography stream must have completed 400 scans prior to commencing this course; as evidenced and confirmed by submission of logbook milestone 1 prior to census date.
Students must complete at least 200 cardiac ultrasound examinations per study period.
