Course aim

To develop deep understanding of traditional, contemporary and emerging arts content and practices, their application to the curriculum and the role/s of a generalist primary school teacher with an arts curriculum specialisation.

Course content

Students will investigate the presence and creative contribution of the arts (dance, drama, media arts, music and visual arts) to diverse contemporary audio-visual cultures. With a focus on visual and media arts knowledge and practices, students will audit, document and critically reflect on developing specialist arts subject content knowledge and the requirements of an inclusive primary school arts curriculum entitlement. Pedagogical approaches will focus on creative body-based learning in physical, digital and virtual spaces.
