Course aim

To deepen preservice teachers' specialised pedagogical content knowledge relevant to the teaching of early childhood mathematical education. To enhance preservice teachers' professional engagement by developing skills and understanding for leading mathematics education in a range of early childhood contexts.

Course content

Preservice teachers will critically understand the nature of specialised content knowledge for teaching mathematics. They will be challenged to develop and reflect on their own self-concept regarding mathematical capabilities. Preservice teachers will examine and critique teaching and learning approaches and interventions in a range of early childhood contexts. They will explore contemporary issues relevant to leading Mathematics education.
