To introduce and provide students with an overview, knowledge and understanding of education from a range of educationally relevant theories of philosophy, sociology and psychology; to enable students to initially apply key theoretical concepts to learning and teaching practice with the application of technology and think critically about contemporary education issues to initiate creative solutions to these.
Throughout the course, students will be introduced to key theories in education and will study and develop knowledge of how these theories explain the role of school and its relations with society. Students will also explore how the theories explain teaching and learning processes, considering the implications for various educational settings. They will begin to develop skills in relationship building, observation, teaching plan, reflecting on teaching and learning practice and the application of information communication technology. Students will also be introduced to various contemporary education issues to critically initiate creative solutions to these issues addressing the diversity of education in the 21st century.
