Course aim

To provide students with dual flight instruction in a single engine airplane through to a solo flight for those who meet the competencies.

Course content

Checklist usage, aircraft general knowledge, performance and flight planning, air law and procedures, avionics, aerodynamics, and other theory related to the actual operation of the aircraft.

AERO 1021 Flight Training Theory 1

Students must hold a minimum of Class II Medical with at least 6 months' validity. Students must comply with the Aviation Academy's Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP). Students must obtain an Aviation Reference Number (ARN). Students must have attended 80% of their scheduled workshops in AERO 1021 Flight Training Theory 1 to enrol in this course.

Practical (Students are assigned an instructor for the duration of the course who will work with each student individually to plan and book flight lessons) 4 hours x 13 weeks
Tutorial (Each new flight topic is preceded by a pre-flight briefing and followed by a post-flight debriefing delivered to all course participants) 4 hours x 13 weeks
