This course is aimed at providing students with a strong foundation in the design, passage, execution and interpretation of legislation and delegated legislation.
Topics in this course include the electoral system and political parties with focus on a selected legal issue and policy development thereof, law making systems in Australia with some international comparison of treatment of selected issue, regulatory design including role of Parliamentary Counsel, Regulations and implementation including drafting, Parliamentary committees with focus on any committee dealing with the policy being studied, acts interpretation acts, statutory interpretation principles.
