Course aim

To develop the skills necessary to execute extensive research in their discipline of interest in Natural and Built Environments and to plan and conduct a research project.

Course content

This course involves the planning and execution of a research project in the student’s selected discipline within the Natural and Built Environments. It culminates in the completion of a 6,500 word research Thesis (or equivalent body of work) that demonstrates a high level of synthesis of concepts and prepares the student for lifelong learning in pursuit of personal development and excellence in research and professional practice.
Students will initially fine tune and further develop the research proposal prepared in the pre-requisite research methods course. Students who have not completed their proposal in the pre-requisite research methods course will need to develop their proposal within this course.
Students whose projects contain empirical research involving humans/animals or research including execution risks must apply for and be granted human/animal research ethics approval and/or conduct a risk assessment prior to commencing their research.
