Course aim

Apply existing knowledge to understand a range of adverse responses to exercise testing and training and to learn the clinical skills to detect contraindications to commencing and adverse responses during exercise.

Course content

Mechanisms of injury or dysfunction to musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory/ pulmonary, metabolic and psychological systems related to exercise testing and prescription. Assessment and monitoring of the musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory/pulmonary, metabolic and psychological systems related to exercise testing and prescription including testing neuromuscular function, ECG testing and interpretation, point of care testing for metabolic parameters and the application of various questionnaires to assess health and function.
