To enable students to manage the demands of arts literacy in a university environment; and to read, think and write critically and creatively.
Students will be introduced to methods of writing, collaborative practices, and the analysis of a range of texts on the subject of contemporary art and culture. Students will also be introduced to critical and creative writing for academic purposes and to ways of critiquing their own work on the basis of argument, credibility and readability. The course will also develop students’ understanding of appropriate language and skills in summarising, notetaking and reading techniques. Students will critique non-academic and academic texts and conduct a literature review using a variety of sources.
