Course aim

To develop pre-service teachers who are confident and competent to plan, assess and teach science and mathematics across the primary years of schooling building a strong disciplinary approach towards incorporating connected, interdisciplinary, differientiated curriculum.

Course content

Preservice teachers will examine research informed teaching approaches that support school students’ learning of science and mathematics. Preservice teachers will develop science and mathematics units of work and explore integration. The units will also incorporate the use of digital technologies and cater for individual needs based on the Australian Curriculum for Mathematics and Science including the general capabilities. Preservice teachers will critique assessment strategies, with an emphasis on summative assessment.
