To enable students to develop professional knowledge, curriculum content, pedagogical approaches and practices specific to Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) and Health and Physical Education (HPE) for learners (years 3-7). To enable them to plan, implement and critically reflect on learning experiences for students in complex educational environments.
Students will develop knowledge and understanding of the Australian Curriculum (HASS and Health and Physical Education) with a focus on planning and programming in each subject area. Using laboratory schools students will critically reflect on their own planning, implementation and teaching practices. Students will develop skills in a broad range of movement forms and teaching methodologies appropriate for HPE while also implementing values, dispositions and knowledge from the HASS curriculum to inform their lesson planning, analysis of teaching episodes and critical reflection. Students will develop skills in managing complex learning environments and diverse learning needs, advanced planning processes, embedding critical pedagogy into practice, teaching for justice, investigating curriculum frameworks and planning and teaching for integration.
