To provide training in rigorously applying mechatronic design principles to developing an electromechanical system to specification.
This course is based on a major design project, in the context of industrial automation. Key elements of the project include the use of an integrated design process, digital twin concepts, system specification, literature review, conceptual design, component selection, system modelling (involving multibody dynamics), instrumentation, model validation, simulation, control system design, mechanical design and construction, software development, prototype testing, documentation and presentation.
