Course aim

Safely achieve first solo flight, and complete Glide and Short Field Landing circuits.

Course content

  • Pre-flight and post-flight actions and procedures;
  • Standard radio and aircraft operating procedures;
  • Basic in flight manoeuvers;
  • Basic aircraft performance, principles of flight, meteorology, aviation law;
  • Decision making, threat and error management, situational awareness airmanship;
  • Take-off, circuit and landing.

Prerequisite(s)

Students must hold a minimum of a Class I Medical with at least 6 months validity. Students must remain compliant with the Aviation Academy's Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP). Students must show proof of ASIC application.

Practical (Students are assigned an instructor for the duration of the course who will work with each student individually to plan and book flight lessons) 9 weeks x 2-3 flights per week
Tutorial (Each new flight topic is preceded by a pre-flight briefing delivered to all course participants) 9 weeks x 2-3 flights per week
