To develop students’ understanding of child development theories, and the social and emotional needs of children across the lifespan and to introduce basic concepts in child wellbeing and protection.
Students will be introduced to core theories of child development, approaches to child wellbeing and protection, and working with families in social work contexts (e.g. the social constructions of children, youth and families, the impact of the social, emotional, psychological and physical development of children, the mental health and well-being of children).
