To provide students with advanced understanding of pain mechanisms, the biological, psychological, behavioural, and social context in which pain emerges, and the clinical assessment, reasoning and management skills required to work with clients with, and at-risk of, persistent pain - including within a multidisciplinary biopsychosocial framework.
Theories of pain mechanisms; Pain-related clinical reasoning; Epidemiology of persistent pain; theories for persistent pain; Education and self-management of persistent pain; Graded exposure and activity; Psychologically-informed physiotherapy; Integrating pain sciences with manual therapy; Interprofessional roles and approaches in the management of persistent pain.
